MEDJUGORJE - A place of prayer and peace
In the mountain village of Medjugorje in Herzegovina, the Virgin Mary appeared to six children. She identified herself as the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Peace. Her mission: to promote peace with God and mankind through her son Jesus.
The visionaries tell us that a visit to Medjugorje is no accident. They believe that we are individually called to Medjugorje, and that it is truly a life changing experience.
What is a Religious Pilgrimage?
A pilgrimage differs from a tour in several ways. It is a personal invitation from God and is dependent upon the pilgrim’s acceptance. God's call may vary, but the purpose remains consistent: it is an individual summons to know God more fully. A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey to which the pilgrim responds to God's invitation. It is a time of prayer and to witness the miraculous signposts God has left for our return to him.

Day 2, 3 & 4
Each morning at 10am you assemble at St James Church for English mass. On feast days and Sundays mass is at noon. You will then follow a path up Apparition Hill where the young visionaries first encountered Our Lady. Pray before the statue which commemorates the spot where Our Lady first appeared to the visionaries. A stop will also be made at “Blue Cross” a special place at the base of Apparition Hill for prayer and reflection.
At 5pm each evening (6pm daylight savings time) you can join the villagers and pilgrims to pray the rosary. Be present in the Church during the time of the apparitions at 5.40 (although the visionaries are not present) and then stay for the Croatian mass and Blessing of the Sick.
Depending upon schedule and availability, meetings can be arranged with the visionaries at their own homes, and additionally there is the option of visiting the beautiful adoration Chapel of the Oasis of Peace. There is also an opportunity to climb Krizevac Mountain, where in 1933 the villagers built a 30ft high cross on the anniversary of Jesus’ Crucifixion. This Cross contains a relic from the actual Cross of Christ given to the villagers by the Pope.
Contingent upon this schedule, you will visit Father Jozo’s Parish and attend his highly inspirational talk. When the apparitions began in 1981, Father Jozo was the pastor of St James Parish, and is considered by many to be the highlight of a pilgrimage to Medjugorje.
